PeaceBike Interview

Genaro Jr.: Cusco, Perú

PeaceBikers Tad and Frank got the priviledge of spending Christmas 2000 with the Ccala Ferro family. During this time we got to know the kids of the family. They were excited about being interviewed by PeaceBike and would love to get letters and email. They cannot check email more than once a week because of the expense but you can still send them an email. Remember that they speak Spanish and so you may want to find someone to translate your letter or go to translator.go.com.

Genaro Jr., Age 11 (Birthday - August 17th)

PeaceBike: So Genaro, what do you like to do in your free time?
Genaro Jr.: I really like to read. I like school and I also like to play with Playgos (they are just like Legos). I also like to play board games like chess and I am really excited that PeaceBiker Frank gave us that game set!!

PeaceBike: Me too! What are your favorite foods?
Genaro Jr.: I like to eat chicken, fried chicken especially. My family also eats ginea pig (cui) on special occasions..like Christmas. But we didn`t eat cui today because you are vegetarian. I also like the baked pasta that we had today. For drinks I love guzzle mazamora ( a sweet, thick, purple drink).

PeaceBike: Genaro, do you ever do things that make you a peacemaker? At school, for example...
Genaro Jr.: Yes, sometimes my friends start teasing each other but then they get into a real fight. I have helped calm my friends down when they get angry at each other. That`s how I act as a peacemaker.

PeaceBike: Because of this interview you are going to get to know more kids from around the world. If one of those kids came to visit you where would you take them in Cusco?
Genaro Jr.: I would like to take them to my school. It is called Colegio de Ciencias (School of the Sciences) and it is a boys school. If my new friend was a girl we could also go to the playgrounds around Cusco, which are very fun. I would also take my PeaceBike Pal to Saksaywaman, an Inca ruin site on a hill above Cusco. It is a very cool place too.

PeaceBike: Well, thanks for a great interview Genaro. Do you have any final message for your PeaceBike Pals?
Genaro Jr.: Yes, I would like to give them my greetings (saludos). And I have also promised Tad that I will write back to anyone who writes me....so please write me a letter!
