You have taken your first step to making a new friend from another part of the world. 

• This is the program we recommend to entire classes who want to write to many different pen pals.  Skipping Stones connects classrooms to classrooms.

Important:  If you are under 18 years old you must discuss your decision to sign up for an email pal with your parent/guardian. This is required because anyone who has access to the internet can sign up to be an email pal and PeaceBike and Skipping Stones cannot check to make sure they are who they say they are. For this reason you should never call or visit your email pal without your parent/guardian´s permission and if your pen pal ever writes anything inappropriate to you please contact PeaceBike immediately at penpals@peacebike.org.

Whew!  That was the bad news. The good news is that hundreds of kids around the world from Kenya to Belize are writing to PeaceBike Pen Pals and having great fun! They sometimes send photos, draw pictures, or tell each other stories.

The PeaceBike-Skipping Stones Deluxe Pen Pal Program (If you can say it?) is for those of you who want to connect your class (or another adult supervised group) with a classroom of pen pals from another country. Maybe you are going to be traveling to many different countries and would like a pen pal from each. Your classroom's name, address, interests, and email (optional) will be placed on a list along with about 75 other pen pals from around the world.  This list will be published in a cross-cultural magazine called Skipping Stones, also a non-profit organization. 

Skipping Stones magazine includes travel stories and articles about and by young people from around the world. This package is for those of you who want to really learn about a number of different cultures. 

The cost of signing up is $5 dollars and for this you will receive one issue of Skipping Stones free. Your classroom's contact information will be included in this free issue.  When your classroom receives the list you will see many other groups' names and addresses, some who know about PeaceBike and others that do not. You can write to as many of these groups as you can keep up with but remember that as a PeaceBike Pen Pal you make a commitment to writing at least one letter for every letter you get.  If you do not want to write a second letter please let your pen pal know this in your first letter. It is no fun to send a letter and never get one back so that is why we ask you to make this commitment!

We ask you to send it by mail with a check for five US dollars to Skipping Stones.
