Our arrival at the home of Krushed and Mustafa in Bugdal

Three little angels enjoy a morning rice meal
the next morning.
|
Penny and her friend Farhad. They were friends 13 years ago when we came to
this village before and reconnected three years ago when the rest of the family
(except Tad) visited India
|
We walked out to Mustafa's field and he pointed out a coconut tree that our dad helped plant in 1968-69 while in the US Peace Corps

|
Krushed (on the far left sitting down) and Sultan (on the far right) are two
of the children of Abdul Hamid, who was the watchman for Tad and Penny's parents
when they were in the Peace Corp in this village 33 years ago
|
The family photo. Krushed is not in this photo because she was helping
deliver a new baby
|
Penny is getting a mahindi design on her hand. Once she lets the dye dry she
will wash it off but the design will remain for almost a month. These are done for
women and girls and usually for weddings or other special occasions
|
Another brother, Ishmael, came the next morning from a town 40 kms away. As
you can see we were treated royally by this family as this was just part of a
breakfast for two
|
The women, all dressed up. They had Penny put on some gold necklaces and lipstick for the photo
|
Asmhat, Ishmael's first wife, brought us lots of fruits as a welcome gift and was very friendly and helpful
|
This is a view of Bugdal from above, from the top of the new mosque in town.
Can you see the boys on the roof flying the kite?
|
This is near the panchiat or local governing body of the town and is also
the building where our parents, Wayne and Kathy Beckwith, lived for part of their
stay in Bugdal 30 years ago
