November 20:  Dia de la Revolucion - Rosario, BC Mex

We woke early this morning and I thought I would show off my new skills as a cook and cooked up a few pancakes.  After a few that finally resembled pancakes I thought I would quit while ahead.  Plus, we had to put everything away before the big parade at 9:00 am.

Today is the Day of the Revolution against Spain and a time to celebrate.  The parade was composed of mainly school groups, each with their own marching group, dance group, and human pyramid teams.  There were at least twenty different school groups and well over 1000 students from kinder to preparatorio.  The costumes were everything from classic Mexican costumes of the 1800s to rappers to clowns.  Justin and I enjoyed watching the scene and taking it all in.

After the parade we headed out and south to the town of Rosario.  Up into the hills we climbed as the scenery began to change.  We knew we were heading into very small town with about 40-60 miles in between so we packed extra water just in case.

Toward the end of the day, as we were turning east away from the ocean we started getting some fog.  Soon the combination of fog, winds, and oncoming dusk turned the scenery into a purple misty tundra of sorts.  This blowing, cold mist seemed to transform the whole environment into a surreal twilight zone.

By the time we found Hotel Rosario it was well past twilight so it was nice to have braved the search together.  After a few stern words we got our change for our double room.

I sent a few messages and tried to call my family before hitting the sack as Justin surfed all four channels on TV: an American sports channel, a polo channel, and two Spanish channels.
