"On the Trail"

The Journals from the Road

November 30: Camping at Bay's Edge - North of Loreto, Baja Sur, Mex

Today, I had intended to leave early but woke up to a disappointing lack of pressure in my tire.  I decided to celebrate this fiesta tire with the delicious pastry goods of the campground's bakery.  The guide books are right.  This place is tops.  Let's just say I had half of their goods for breakfast.

I fixed my tire and took a very refreshing dip in an unheated pool. (Which reminds me of my grandparents' pool on early fall nights.)

By this time it was nearly noon and I certainly wasn't going to make it the 84 miles to Loreto.

I did make it quite far, though, and found a quiet pebble beach on which to lay my groundsheet.  Cream of asparagus soup with pasta and onions and stargazing brought the day to its end.
