December 13:  A visit to John F. Kennedy School - Queretaro, Mexico

What a wonder-filled day!

Today, I got the opportunity to visit the John F. Kennedy School of
Queretaro, a bilingual, bi-cultural school very near to Cesar's home.
Because each Monday the school gathers to salute the flags of Mexico and the
Unites States in their court yard I was introduced to the whole school and
many parents.  It was a great privilege to visit such an amazing group of
people.  Every one of the children that I met could speak English and
Spanish.  They very politely asked me questions about where I was going and
what I was carrying with me in all of those bags.

I was able to visit different classrooms all morning and share stories of
the journey.  I also gave a special invitation to each classroom to sign up
to be PeaceBike Pen Pals.  These children will reap the rewards of being
bilingual their whole lives and one of these benefits is being able to read
and write PeaceBike Pen Pal letters.  PeaceBike and John F. Kennedy School
are in the process of developing a PeaceBike Pilot Classroom program through
which John F. Kennedy students would publish PeaceBike related projects on
our website for teachers and students around the world to learn from.  We
are looking into environmental and sustainability related projects.  This is
very exciting for me as this subject in one that is very close to my heart.

A big thank-you to Mirta for the wonderful welcome, Rob for the bike box and
cycling enthusiasm, and all of the teachers and students for their
willingness to join this global project for peace.

After this visit Cesar and I got a few more pictures of the city and then I
worked at packing my bike into a box that the airlines would take on the
plane.  It was actually pretty easy to take apart but the challenge will be
putting PeaceForce One back together again.

Peace(Bike),
