The Journals from the Road
March 5-7: 1000 Beautifuls Happenings in Oaxaca City I am going to put this in rapid mode because I am to meet John, a guy I will be riding with in just a mere 5 minutes. Oaxaca City is a relaxed but full big town with lots of culture! After visiting the Oaxaca Street Children Center here are the headlines: * Rode to Monte Alban - Met John ( cycle messenger from Washington, D.C. and his friend Max, cool guy-musician!) * Found a school to visit: Prepatoria 7(a highschool) - They were so responsive and one class even spontaneously decided to give me a donation. Pesos in the helmet! Many thanks!! Let's build peace together! See photos below. * Visited Benito Jaurez's childhood home. He was a contemporary of Lincoln and president of Mexico! * Toured Santo Domingo and Oaxaca's Region Museum. * Got John set up with a bike and a custom rack (for his backpack) soldered together! * Met Fred and Eden, two great people, learning Spanish. Let me stay with them for the last few days! Many thanks! Great book too! Well, got to go meet John! We will be riding east into Chiapas with many stops on the way! Peace(Bike), A few of the students at Prepa Siete in Oaxaca.
