April 15:   A less than taxing ride downhill! - Ocosingo, Chiapas

We went 30 kms yesterday which was a perfect amount for not having been in the saddle for a while. Today we boast 62 kms but most of that was downhill. Today was a great ride, through green, pine forests which descended into leafy jungle.

We arrived in Ocosingo at around 5 pm. We found a cheap and mediocre hotel and stashed our gear. The rains poured down but finally we decided to brave the wetness to do some lost article shopping. Jon got a new mosquito net ( his first one was stolen by a band of very large rebel mosquitos, I think). He also picked up some alcohol for the new stove. I bought some socks to replace those that walked off somewhere in San Cristobal.

A dinner of nopal quesadillas, melon shake, fried pineapple, fried onions, and cucumber finally filled me up.

Today is also a special day because it is my super dad's birthday! I gave him a quick call, just enough time to sing and go.

Well that's it from- Ocosingo! Happy Birthday Dad! I love you!

Peace(Bike),

P.S. Remember, April 22 is earth day!
