I woke up and put my tent in its bag but couldn`t find the bag for the poles. I finally asked one of the officers for help and they all started looking for me. I hoped that I really had lost it and that it wasn`t in one of my other bags. Soon, one of the officers found it a few meters away stuck behind some tools. The wind must have blown it away from my spot! Thanks for the team effort!

I have been to Chichen Itza once before with members some of my former students and was thrilled to be here again! This time I took more time than a set tour would allow and hiked all over the entire ruins! The staff was very kind here and once I told them what I was doing they gave me a discount on the entrance fee.

After hiking to the top of El Castillo twice, to the cenote, ball courts, observatory, and even steam baths I was steaming myself. I cooled off in an all-you-can-eat restaurant which Pablo had recommended. For 40 pesos I ate 6 plates of food and was well pleased. I also rode slowly that afternoon.

I rode 31 km and got to the small Mayan town of Kun Kunul. I spoke with the authorities and they decided I should stay in the luxurious Casa Ejidal (the municipal house). I was living a life of luxury with tables, chairs, and even a ventilador (fan) overhead.

A bunch of local teens came by at 10:00 and I asked them if they wanted to play some b-ball. They did and we had two great games. The gringo led in scoring but I think they were just being nice to the new guy. Either that or they didnīt want to block out my sweaty torso!

Lot`s of fun.

Peace to ya,
