"On the Trail"

The Journals from the Road

Thursday, July 19, 2001: Table for Two Thousand? - Feldkirch and Bregenz, Austria

Frank here…

It was another rainy day and even a bit colder. What a difference from Italy! Jacqueline and I took a train to the picturesque city of Bregenz to meet her very good, vivacious, and inviting friend, Nadia.

We all met at a very interesting outdoor auditorium on Lake Constance. From the edge of lake you can see the mountains of Germany and Switzerland. But more impressively you are greeted by a stage that is set in the water and is made of what looks like giant furniture of a café. There is a giant table with chairs and a CD stand. The pencils on the table are about three metres long! This stage is used for musical and acting performances. It is a very creative and impressive idea.

The three of us visited for several hours, then Jacqueline and I headed back to Feldkirch to meet Amuro. The rain started again but it did not stop us from enjoying a night of latino dancing.

-Who decided that life is or is not fair? If life is fair, how do we maintain it? Some people suggest that "Karma" is the measuring stick that eventually makes everything fair. On the other hand, if life is not fair, is it right to try to change it and make it fair?
