"On the Trail"
Thursday, August 9, 2001: Monsters? - Pohenegamook, Quebec to Linkletter, Prince Edward Island, Canada
Frank here…
The town of Pohenegamook (formerly called Estcourt) resides on a lake of the same name. This lake is famous for a legendary monster called Pony that lives in the water near the adjacent mountain. It is a mystery similar to the Loch Ness monster. In the 1950's a group of Japanese scientists came. Louise told me that almost anyone over 65 who lived in the area has seen the beast. When Louise and her friends used to go swimming there as youngsters, they used to run out of the water if they saw any unexplained ripples in the water.
Today was a full day of driving. Boy, if we were elsewhere in the world, this one day of driving would have crossed many countries. Things were rather quiet but got a bit exciting when we crossed the 14 kilometer Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island. It would have been a cool bike ride.
Some strolling around the quaint and relaxing town of Linkletter, PEI was how the rest of the evening went.
